In a lifetime dedicated to poetry, Robert Gray has also, at times, been intensively involved with drawing and painting (which remain of constant interest), although he insists on his amateur status. While this site is devoted to his poetry, there is a selection here of drawings, which he says have been a basic influence on how he has written.
(These drawing are a very few of those I have made during the past 40 years. It has not been possible to date them accurately, except on a few occasions, and their arrangement has been left to chance. I have had no interest in ‘developing,’ but have been concerned to apply a linear style to a variety of subjects. RG.)
